MG&A: Pet owner research: Have you taken part in a paid-for activity with your dog?
Pet healthcare is big business in UK. Apart from the obvious suppliers of medicines, feed and accessories etc there is also a network of people to meet your dog’s every need!
We asked dog owners, which if any, of the following services [NAME OF DOG] had taken up.
– A professional dog walker that you paid for (not a favour from a friend / relative)
– A stay in kennels / doggy hotel (paid for and not a favour from a friend or relative)
– Visited a dog groomer
– Had tuition from a dog trainer that you paid for e.g. socialisation, help with training, help with behavioural problems
– Taken part in a paid for activity such as fly ball, agility, scent work, dancing with dogs etc (excluding showing)
– Visited a doggy physio / massage therapist / hydrotherapist or other alternative therapists
Results
The top answer with just under half (41%) was visited a dog groomer. The next highest with a quarter (25%) was a stay in kennels / doggy hotel (paid for and not a favour from a friend or relative).
The lowest uptake (just 6%) was taken part in a paid for activity such as fly ball, agility, scent work, dancing with dogs etc (excluding showing)
The remaining were all between 10% and 17%.
